  • General Financial Planning Principles, Professional Conduct, and Regulation: course will introduce students to the theory and practice of financial planning.
  • Risk Management, Insurance, and Employee Benefits Planningcourse considers risk management principles and the various types of insurance coverage in the marketplace today, focusing on the role of planning for insurance needs.
  • Investment Planning: course provides information about sound investment principles as a primary means of wealth accumulation for financial planning clients.

  • Retirement Savings and Income Planning: course deals with the single most important issue millions of people will be facing in the years to come: affording to retire.
  • Estate Planning: course addresses what occurs once the wealth accumulation process is complete; distributing excess wealth is a primary goal for many financial planning clients.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the content found within the Financial Planning curriculum and effectively apply and integrate this information in the formulation of a financial plan.
  •  Effectively communicate the financial plan, both orally and in writing, including information based on research, peer, colleague or simulated client interaction and/or results emanating from synthesis of material.
  • Collect all necessary and relevant qualitative and quantitative information required to develop a financial plan.
  • Analyze personal financial situations, evaluating clients’ objectives, needs, and values to develop an appropriate strategy within the financial plan.
  •  Demonstrate logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to a specific problem.
  • Evaluate the impact of economic, political, and regulatory issues with regard to the financial plan.
  • Apply the CFP® Board Financial Planning Practice Standards to the financial planning process.

To help you in that effort, this course covers the latest HR Certification Institute (HRCI) information and is designed by subject matter experts who know the tests inside and out. While there isn’t an endorsed/sponsored manual or course that will teach you how to pass HRCI’s exam, this course will help ensure you’re confident and well prepared going into it.
Nervous about passing? Don’t be! Canisius students statistically have a higher pass rate than the national average. However, if you don’t pass, we do allow all our participants to sit in the next session of this course within one year of your paid registration. You’ll be asked to bring your original course materials.

  • Applicants must show that they have worked in an HR role for more than 1,000 hours within a calendar year, which equates to 1 year of experience.

  • Applicants with a graduate degree (or global equivalency) in HR must currently be employed in an HR role.
  • HR experience may be classified directly, as working in an HR role, or indirectly, by consulting, educating or researching HR practices linked specifically to human resource management.
  • SHRM membership is not required.
