Description
One of the most important components of your college application is the essay. This is your opportunity to set yourself apart from the hundreds of other applicants who have comparable grades and test scores. It’s the portion of your application that admissions offices use to determine who you are as an individual and whether you would fit well within the university.
In this workshop participants will be offered comprehensive instruction in the fundamentals of a successful college admissions essay, along with an individualized look at personal goals and strengths to produce a highly effective and distinctive admissions essay.
This will be done by looking at some myths about the college application essay and finding out what the readers are really looking for when they read an essay. Students will analyze a real college application essay and discuss what distinguishes a successful essay from an unsuccessful one. Finally, students learn how to choose the best subject for them and have the opportunity to brainstorm possible topics.
