Description
This program prepares students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice. Course reviews the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems and maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record. Further, this program provides students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to shore up IT networks as applicable to health information technology.
This program prepares students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice. Primarily, the program reviews the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems and maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record. Further, this program will build on students’ existing user-level knowledge and experience with personal computer software and hardware in order to present fundamental concepts and techniques that technicians will use every day on the job.
Upon completing this course, students will gain the essential skills and technical expertise necessary to install, upgrade, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, repair and perform preventative maintenance on basic personal computer hardware and operating systems ensuring that the implementation of EHRM is successful and technology can continue to enhance healthcare delivery across the country.
Students who complete this course are prepared for national certification:
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) exam can be proctored at a local testing facility and is available to all students who complete this program
- CompTIA A+ Certification Exams (220-801 and 220-802)
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification Exam
